Grades K-3

1.    George Washington.

4. The youngest elected President, who died in office, was John F. Kennedy.

5. President Ronald Reagan did not like to talk to reporters for very long so he would take their questions with the helicopter roaring in the background

 

 

Grades 4-8

1. The President may serve for two consecutive 4-year terms.

2. Answers will vary.

3. Franklin D. Roosevelt led the Nation through the Depression and World War II.

4. President Richard Nixon resigned his office due to the Watergate scandal.

5. President Jimmy Carter had a daughter named Amy.

 

 

Grades 9-12

1. The duties of the President consist of: (a) Commander and Chief of the Armed Services and the authority to direct these forces, (b) appointing members to the cabinet and other high-ranking officials, and (c) approving or opposing laws passed by Congress.

2. By receiving the majority of electoral votes.

3. Answers will vary.

4. President Gerald Ford was the first President to be chosen by this process due to the Watergate scandal and the forced resignation of President Richard Nixon.  It was the first time a President of the United States resigned his office.

5. The Presidents that were shot while in office were Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, William McKinley, and Ronald Reagan.  Only the injuries of Reagan were not fatal.
